Alright, let’s get into it… Since this is my first post, I figured we should get to know each other a little bit. It’s important for you to understand that I’m legit—not just someone who made a few sales on Etsy and decided to start a coaching business, a podcast, and a blog all all about it.
My story is not an overnight success story either. I cannot stand “digital marketing gurus” who claim to make thousands overnight. It’s BS—they know it, I know it, and I hope you do too.
The Beginning: Rock Bottom
Before I found success as a Globally ranked Top 0.1% Etsy Seller with over 90,000 sales, I have to start where I started: rock bottom.
Early Career Struggles
Back in high school, I didn’t know what I wanted to do. I played college softball and figured PE was a good fit, but I hated it. After four years, I resigned and thought about going back to school for something else but ended up bartending instead. My parents weren’t thrilled.
Financial Hardships and Crafting
Soon after, my husband lost his job. The pressure was on me to find something more secure. I interviewed with another school district and got the job, but it still wasn’t right. I felt an entrepreneurial spirit growing within me. I tried MLMs and even made beaded necklaces to sell, but nothing worked.
Then I got pregnant and realized we were in no financial position to have a child. We sold our house and moved in with my parents to get out of $50,000 debt. Back in my childhood bedroom, my husband lost his next job, and I found out I was pregnant again. Wonderful timing, right?
I started making handmade crafts with my mom and selling them on Etsy. We did craft shows, but every time an order came in, I was trading time for money.
The Turning Point: Digital Products
Determined, I started learning all about side hustles. I tried virtual assisting, freelancing, Print on Demand, but none worked for me. Then, in 2020, during the pandemic, I had a revelation in the shower (where all of the best ideas come, amiright?).
I was already making digital products for my students… so why not sell them?
I started my first digital product Etsy shop in June 2020. A few days later, I made a sale and freaked out! Then I made a few more. I was hooked. Within my first six months, I made $15,000 in sales with about an 85% profit margin.
Achieving Success
I hit my first six figures within a year and a half. My husband didn’t believe it was real money. I thought it was a fluke until I repeated the same revenue for the next few years. I made multiple six figures, fully passively. I became a Globally Ranked Top 0.1% Etsy Seller with over 90,000 sales, over 5,500 5-star reviews, out of debt, vacations fully paid for, cars paid off, and a new home.
I. WAS. HOOKED.
The Decision to Leave Teaching
Why did I stay teaching then? Because for any teacher or secure 9-5er knows, they got you. You think about the pension, the benefits, the security. But the truth is, I hated my job. My last year teaching got so toxic for me, and my mental health was so bad. The stress, the missing of my kids’ events… I couldn’t do it anymore.
I felt divine intervention telling me I was done. I wanted freedom. I knew without a shadow of a doubt that I wanted to be present for my kids, to take them to school, to be there for their holiday parties and parades. I wanted freedom and happiness, and I wasn’t going to let the fear of making the wrong choice hold me back.
So, I wrote my resignation and sent it in. Yes, I was scared, but I knew it was the right decision.
Finding Freedom and Happiness
Now, I’m better than fine. I’m freaking amazing. I am present with my kids, I am putting myself first, and I am happy. All because of a little $3 digital product I put up on Etsy. Freedom, happiness, gratitude. That’s my story.
Your Path to Freedom
I want you to know that it’s possible for you to have this freedom too. Freedom doesn’t mean money or wealth. It means what YOU need it to mean.
